Words of Wisdom

At Jenna's baby shower, Shawn and I received a stack of small envelopes, each containing words of wisdom from friends and loved ones who had gone before us in this adventure called "parenting." We were told to open them once we were in the maternity ward to inspire us in the first days of our journey.

I share these bits of wisdom in gratitude and appreciation for those who have gone before us in this sacred path...

Words of Wisdom for the New Parents:
-Parenting is a challenge and a blessing. Love overrides all.
-Watch how other people do things, then do it differently.
-Remember that each of us is a fully developed spirit worthy of our respect and our love.
-Breathe! Relax! Sleep when you get the chance.
-Pick your battles. Not everything is a concern.
-Accept every offer of help.
-Trust your instincts.
-Laugh often and loud.
-Sing and dance together.
-You can never hold her too much.
-You can never tell her how proud you are of her too much.
-You can never let her know what a blessing she is too much.
-Beware of bad baby advice. No one will ever know her better than you...
-Don't wait till tomorrow... You'll miss Today.

We promise you, Jenna... We'll do the best we can. We love you...

Wow! a beautiful combination of the love, wisdom, and inspiration of you both, Mindy and Shawn! Oh, and I forgot to mention the good looks too! You are so blessed.
I still feel equally as blessed each time I gaze at Zoe and Hannah
who, by the way, are as excited as I am about the news of Jenna's arrival.

Oh my gosh, she's SOOO beautiful and precious! Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your Spring miracle with us. I am blessed and honored to be a part of the journey with Baby Jenna. There is such love present here, and I am humbled by it.

Grace and sleep to your family,
Ceci

Great picture, she does look wise, doesn't she! Do you perceive that she has an 'Old Soul'? Looks like Daddy's girl, too. Beautiful. Love, L.

PS - I forgot my password, but figured it out! So this is duplicate of email I sent while frustrated by my own forgetfulness. That's why old people don't get to have wee ones, we'd forget where we put them.

This is about one of your Sunday talks, but it wouldn't let me post a comment there, so I'm posting it here:

"Getting Out of a Rut" inspired and reminded me of how we keep ourselves "stuck" in story, drama and fear, when all we really need to do sometimes is accept what is, lovingly turn around, and take a step in a new direction. It seems that I always listen to these at just the right time...a time when I really need to hear the message. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
